Ohio State jumps to No. 5 in latest national media poll

Ohio State not only moved into first place in the MIVA but is back in the top five of the national media poll.

The Buckeyes following two more conference victories jumped up one spot to No. 5 in the new Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll released Tuesday.

Ohio State extended its winning streak to a conference-best seven matches with wins against Loyola and Lewis during the weekend. In addition, those home wins moved Ohio State a half-match ahead of No. 10/8 Ball State for sole possession of first place in the MIVA.

The Buckeyes were one of the few teams to move ranking spots in the latest national media poll.

Long Beach State for the third consecutive week received all but three first place votes to remain at No. 1. BYU, Stanford and UCLA also remained unchanged in the rankings to round-out the top five.

The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll is the only national rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.
