What to know: No. 3 UC Irvine will get its long awaited rematch against No. 7 USC and this time enters the match on the conference’s longest winning streak. The Anteaters will travel to play the Trojans in the first meeting between the two teams since USC rallied from a one-game road deficit to beat UC Irvine in five games in January. UC Irvine has more than a .300 attack percentage in every match throughout its seven-match winning match. In addition, the Anteaters are tied for second in the nation with a .355 attack percentage. Setter Michael Seata also was named the MPSF Player of the Week after helping UC Irvine sweep No. 8 UC Santa Barbara and No. 9 UCLA during the weekend to move into sole possession of first place in the MPSF. USC returns from its bye week attempting to snap a three-match losing streak that dropped the team to fifth place in the MPSF. All-American setter Micah Christenson did not play in USC’s last match because of an acute sinus infection. Chirstenson, though, in the first meeting against UC Irvine finished with 52 assists and a match-high 15 digs as the Trojans out-hit the Anteaters .305 to .261.
