No. 4 Pepperdine isn’t going anywhere for the first round of the MPSF Tournament.
Pepperdine clinched postseason home match for the first time five years as it swept No. 10 Hawai’i 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 on Friday in Malibu, Calif.
Middle attacker Nikola Antonijevic in the victory had a match-high five blocks to help the Waves out-hit the Rainbow Warriors .233 to .165. In addition, Antonijevic added five kills on a .714 attack percentage against Hawai’i.
With this win, Pepperdine remains in second place in the conference and can clinch the No. 2 seed for the MPSF Tournament if it completes the series sweep against Hawai’i on Saturday. The loss drops Hawai’i to ninth place in the MPSF but the Rainbow Warriors still have a chance at a postseason berth if they can beat the Waves in the series finale and No. 9 UCLA loses to No. 3 BYU in its regular season finale.
