Video: No. 4 Pepperdine stuffs No. 2 Long Beach State’s winning streak

All-American outside attacker Josh Taylor had a match-high 15 kills to help No. 4 Pepperdine sweep No. 2 Long Beach State 25-21, 25-21, 27-25 on Thursday in Malibu, Calif.

Taylor was one of two Waves (13-5, 13-5 MPSF) to finish with double-digit kills in the victory as opposite Parker Kalmbach added 11 kills. In addition, Pepperdine out-hit Long Beach State .287 to .184, including holding the 49ers (15-5, 12-5 MPSF) to a match-worst 0.32 attack percentage in the second game.

Long Beach State All-American outside attacker Taylor Crabb was held to a team-hit 11 kills and a .182 attack percentage — almost .200 percentage points below his season average.

With this loss, Long Beach State’s conference-best eight-match winning streak came to an end. The Waves also now jump ahead of the 49ers for second place in the MPSF by a half-match.
