Breakdown of conference tournament seeding scenarios

One week before the conference tournaments begin for automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament and a majority of the tournament seeds remain undecided.

Check out this breakdown of each team’s conference tournament seeding scenario entering this week’s matches.


MPSF TOURNAMENT
The MPSF Tournament is an eight-team tournament that begins April 20 with the four quarterfinal matches.

BYU (20-4, 19-3 MPSF) –- Clinched MPSF regular season title, No. 1 seed and home court advantage throughout MPSF Tournament.

UC Irvine (20-6, 17-6 MPSF) — Clinched at least No. 3 seed and a home match for MPSF Tournament quarterfinals. Can clinch No. 2 seed if it wins its remaining conference match or Long Beach State loses its remaining match.

Long Beach State (21-7, 17-6 MPSF) –- Clinched at least No. 3 seed and a home match for the MPSF Tournament quarterfinals. Can clinch No. 2 seed if it wins its remaining conference match and UC Irvine loses its remaining match.

UCLA (18-10, 14-8 MPSF) –- Can clinch at least No. 4 seed and a home match for the MPSF Tournament quarterfinals if it beats Pepperdine on Wednesday. Can also clinch No. 4 seed if it loses to Pepperdine in four or five games and then wins its remaining match or Pepperdine loses its regular-season finale against UC Santa Barbara.

Pepperdine (13-10, 12-10 MPSF) –- Can clinch at least No. 4 seed and a home match for the MPSF Tournament quarterfinals if it beats UCLA on Wednesday and then wins its remaining conference match and UCLA loses its remaining match. Can clinch No. 5 seed if it wins one of its two remaining matches or Stanford and UC Santa Barbara lose one of their remaining matches. Can also clinch No. 5 seed if Pepperdine, Stanford and UC Santa Barbara finish in three-way tie.

Stanford (14-11, 11-11 MPSF) –- Can clinch No. 5 seed if it wins its two remaining conference matches and Pepperdine loses both of its remaining matches. Can clinch No. 6 seed if it wins its remaining conference matches or wins one of its remaining matches and UC Santa Barbara loses one of its remaining matches.

UC Santa Barbara (14-12, 10-10 MPSF) –- Can clinch No. 6 seed if it wins its two remaining conference matches and Stanford loses one of its remaining matches. Can clinch No. 7 seed if it wins one of its remaining matches or Cal State Northridge loses one of its remaining matches.

Cal State Northridge (11-13, 9-13 MPSF) –- Can clinch No. 6 seed if it wins its two remaining conference matches and Stanford loses its two remaining matches and UC Santa Barbara loses one of its remaining matches. Can clinch No. 7 seed seed if it wins its remaining conference matches and UC Santa Barbara or Stanford lose its two remaining conference matches. Can clinch postseason berth if it wins one of its remaining matches.

Hawai’i (9-16, 8-14 MPSF) –- Can clinch postseason berth if it wins its two remaining conference matches and Cal State Northridge loses its two remaining matches.

USC (6-16, 6-16 MPSF) –- Eliminated from postseason.

Pacific (8-18, 5-17 MPSF) –- Eliminated from postseason.

UC San Diego (7-20, 4-18 MPSF) –- Eliminated from postseason.

Cal Baptist (16-12, 12-10 MPSF) –- Ineligible for postseason.


MIVA TOURNAMENT
The MIVA Tournament is the only men’s volleyball conference tournament that includes all of its eligible members and begins April 19-20 with three quarterfinal matches.

Lewis (19-7, 10-2 MIVA) — Clinched at least No. 2 seed. Can clinch No. 1 seed and MIVA regular season title if it wins one of its two remaining conference matches.

Loyola (18-8, 9-3 MIVA) — Can clinch No. 1 seed and out-right MVA regular season title if wins its two remaining conference and Lewis loses both of its remaining conference matches. Can clinch No. 2 seed if it wins one of its remaining matches or Ball State loses one of its remaining matches. Can also clinch No. 2 seed if Loyola, Ball State and Ohio State end in a three-way tie.

Ball State (18-5, 7-5 MIVA) — Can clinch No. 2 seed if it wins its two remaining conference matches — including sweeping Loyola by at least a 12-point margin — and Loyola loses both of its remaining matches and Ohio State losing one of its remaining matches. Can clinch No. 3 seed if it wins its two remaining matches. Can clinch at least No. 4 seed and a home match for the MIVA Tournament quarterfinals if it wins one of its remaining matches or Grand Canyon loses one of its remaining matches.

Ohio State (17-7, 7-5 MIVA) — Clinched at least No. 4 seed a home match for the MIVA Tournament quarterfinals. Can clinch No. 3 seed if it wins its two remaining conference matches and Ball State loses one of its remaining conference matches.

Grand Canyon (14-14, 5-7 MIVA) –- Can clinch No. 4 seed and a home match for the MIVA Tournament quarterfinals if it wins its two remaining conference matches and Ball State losses both of its remaining matches. Can clinch No. 5 seed if it wins one of its remaining matches.

IPFW (12-11, 4-8 MIVA) — Can clinch No. 5 seed if it wins its two remaining conference matches and Grand Canyon loses both of its remaining matches.

Quincy (10-18, 1-10 MIVA) — Clinched No. 7 seed.

Lindenwood (19-9, 5-7 MIVA) –- Ineligible for postseason.


EIVA TOURNAMENT
The EIVA Tournament is a four-team tournament that begins April 25 with the two semifinal matches.

Penn State (18-6, 11-1 EIVA) –- Clinched No. 1 seed and right to play host to EIVA Tournament. Can clinch out-right EIVA regular season title if it wins one of its two remaining conference matches or George Mason loses its remaining conference match.

George Mason (14-11, 10-3 EIVA) –- Clinched at least No. 3 seed. Can clinch No. 2 seed if it wins its one remaining conference match. Can also clinch No. 2 seed if it losses final conference match to Princeton and Harvard wins its three remaining conference matches.

Princeton (11-8, 9-4 EIVA) — Can clinch No. 2 seed if it sweeps George Mason in final conference match and Harvard loses one of its remaining three conference matches. Can clinch No. 3 seed it beats George Mason in final conference match or Harvard loses one of its remaining conference matches.

Harvard (14-8, 7-4 EIVA) — Clinched postseason berth. Can clinch No. 3 seed if it wins its three remaining conference matches and Princeton loses its remaining conference match.

St. Francis (10-15, 5-7 EIVA) –- Eliminated from postseason.

NJIT (6-18, 3-7 EIVA) — Eliminated from postseason.

Sacred Heart (3-17, 1-10 EIVA) — Eliminated from postseason.

Rutgers-Newark (4-17, 0-10 EIVA) — Eliminated from postseason.
