    No. 2 BYU versus Lewis highlights tonight’s schedule in what could be a preview to this year’s Final Four. However, not to be overlooked is a rematch of the last season’s NCAA championship match as UC Irvine plays host to USC.

  • Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    It’s only the first Saturday of the regular season, but there is plenty of intrigue for volleyball fans with tonight’s matches.

    No. 1 UC Irvine and No. 6 for the second straight year meet in the UC Santa Barbara Invitational championship match, but this time coach John Speraw is on the UCLA sidelines. In addition, No. 2 BYU looks to avoid an upset and remain perfect in the MPSF as it plays a home match against Hawai’i.

  • Top 10 non-conference matches to follow in 2013 season

    The 2013 college men’s volleyball season begins this week and there are plenty of intriguing non-conference matches to keep an eye on throughout entire regular season.

    Everything from early season matches that could be previews of Final Four matches to underdog teams traveling out west looking for a signature victory highlights the non-conference lineup this year.

    Off the Block dissected all the NCAA Division I-II teams’ non-conference schedules to come up with the top 10 non-conference matches for fans to follow during the 2013 season.

  • Lewis picked to repeat as MIVA championships in 2013

    After reaching the Final Four last season, Lewis officially enters the upcoming season the preseason favorite to repeat as conference championships.

    The defending conference championships Flyers received six of eight first-place votes and had 62 points to finish atop the MIVA Preseason Coaches Poll released Tuesday morning.

  • Ohio State lands highly recruited New York setter, two outside attackers

    Two all-state high school seniors and a league most valuable player highlights Ohio State’s latest recruiting class.

    Ohio State announced Monday that it signed Christy Blough, Gabriel Domecus and Miles Johnson to letters of national intent to join the Buckeyes beginning in the 2014 season.

  • Penn State beats Ohio State in 4 games to open preseason

    Outside attacker Nick Goodell had a match-high 15 kills and four aces as Penn State defeated Ohio State 25-14, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22 on Thursday in University Park Pa., to open the Penn State Fall Invitational.

    Goodell, a 2011 All-EIVA selection, was one of three Nittany Lions with at least nine kills in the preseason match. All-EIVA outside attacker Aaron Russell had nine kills before being pulled after the second game, while outside attacker Kyle Mars came off the bench to add nine kills.

  • USA breezes past St. Vincent in NORCECA pool-play round

    The United States clinched a quarterfinals berth at the NORCECA Junior Continental Championship in convincing fashion.

    St. Vincent and the Grenandines was held to single-digits in all three games as the United States swept its pool-play match 25-8, 25-8, 25-9 on Tuesday in Colorado Springs, Colo.

  • USA Volleyball reveals final roster for World Championships qualifier

    Twelve college men’s volleyball players have been selected to represent the United States at an international tournament.

    USA Volleyball announced Thursday its final roster for the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Junior (U-21) Continental Championship that will begin this weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo.

  • Penn State, UCLA, Ohio State to play in 2013 Outrigger Invitational

    Penn State after a one-year hiatus will return to Hawaii to open its season at the annual Outrigger Invitational.

    The Nittany Lions return to the island was made official last week as Hawai’i unveiled its 2013 schedule and announced that Penn State, Ohio State and UCLA will play in the school’s home tournament in January 2013.

  • Volleyball Magazine reveals high school All-American teams

    Eighteen incoming college freshmen recruits were among the players receiving one of the nation’s top high school volleyball honors.

    Volleyball Magazine in its August issue released its 2012 Boys’ High School All-American Teams that featured incoming college recruits from 11 NCAA Division I-II schools.
