Q&A with Mount Olive men’s volleyball coach David Heller

Months after being upset in the postseason, Mount Olive has not only moved on but is now eyeing a feat never achieved by a Conference Carolinas team.

Mount Olive coach David Heller said Tuesday in an interview with Off the Block that his team has been eager and more focused during the preseason knowing in 2014 it has a chance to become to the first Conference Carolinas team to reach the NCAA Tournament.

Penn State, Mount Olive opt to continue non-conference series for 2014 season

The two schools from the East Coast that won conference regular season championships last year will continue their non-conference series in 2014.

Mount Olive recently released its schedule for the upcoming season that was highlighted with a road match against Penn State on Jan. 31.

Off the Block Fan Choice Player of the Year: First-round voting

Off the Blocked selected and seeded the 65 players in a bracket, and now it is up to the fans to determine who should win the Off the Block Fan Choice Player of the Year.

The Fan Choice Player of the Year recognizes the best individual performances from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball players during the season and gives volleyball fans from around the world the chance decide the winner through online voting.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

It’s the final Wednesday of the regular season, and it’s so big it warrants a top-five match breakdown.

No. 3 UCLA will try to clinch a home match in the MPSF Tournament and remain in contention for the only at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as it plays No. 5 Pepperdine. In addition, the Conference Tournament resumes tonight with both semifinal matches.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

The conference tournaments are inching closer to starting and tonight’s matches could have big implications on the seeding for those tournaments.

No. 6 Stanford looks to remain in contention for a chance to host a MPSF Tournament match and avoid an upset as it plays host to No. 9 Cal State Northridge. In addition, Penn State has chance to win the EIVA regular season championship this season if it can get past second-place Princeton tonight.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

The playoffs are about a month way but postseason positioning is on the line tonight in college men’s volleyball.

No. 6 Ohio State looks to stay in content for a MIVA regular season championship as travels to play its longtime conference rival Ball State. In addition, No. 1 BYU one day before playing No. 4 Long Beach State looks to avoid a trap game against No. 8 Cal State Northridge.
