  • AVCA announces 2013 All-American Teams, Newcomer of the Year

    After both being the nation’s top ranked teams for the majority of the season, BYU and UC Irvine have now picked up the most All-American honors.

    The Cougars and Anteaters were the only teams to have multiple players selected to the first of two All-American teams, which the AVCA released Thursday morning.

  • Conference tournament men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    The postseason spotlight is shining bright on the Chicago area tonight as the MIVA Tournament resumes with both semifinal matches.

    The defending-MIVA champions Lewis look to return to the conference championship match and end Grand Canyon’s underdog run as two teams play in their first postseason meeting against each other. In addition, Ball State will try to end a 14-year curse as it plays Loyola in other semifinal match.

  • Initial look at the conference tournament semifinal matches

    The conference tournament quarterfinals are over and only 12 teams left in the nation control their own fate to reach the four-team NCAA Tournament.

  • MIVA announces Player of the Year, all-conference teams

    Loyola after getting a share of the MIVA regular season championship has now picked up the top two individual conference awards.

    The MIVA announced Wednesday that Loyola outside attacker Joseph Smalzer was selected as the 2013 MIVA Player of the Year, while freshman outside attacker Thomas Jaeschke was the 2013 MIVA Freshman of the Year.

    BYU will go into the postseason as the top-ranked team in the nation.

    The Cougars received all but one first-place vote to finish atop the final regular season national media poll that was released Tuesday.

  • Video: Ball State upsets No. 6 Lewis to extend winning streak

    Ball State extended its winning streak to a historic milestone and clinched a home match for the conference tournament as it defeated No. 6 Lewis 25-18, 24-26, 25-18, 25-15 on Thursday in Muncie.

    With this victory, Ball State is now on an 11-match winning streak — tying the program’s longest winning streak in more than 20 years. In addition, the Cardinals have clinched the No. 4 seed for the MIVA Tournament and still controls their own fate for the No. 3 seed.

  • My men’s volleyball media poll ballot

    For the first time in almost a month, there is not a unanimous No. 1 in the national rankings.

    BYU following in its loss to No. 3 UCLA on Saturday remained in atop the new men’s volleyball national media poll released Tuesday but it lost a first-place vote to Long Beach State.

  • Top 10 non-conference matches to hope get scheduled for 2014

    With the calendars turned to April, it not only means the conference tournaments ready to begin but college men’s volleyball coaches beginning to create their schedules for next season.

    There are multiple factors that go into a coach creating their schedule and at times several factors that are out of a coach’s control. However, there are just some non-conference matches that volleyball fans are craving to get scheduled.
