Video: Averill powers No. 6 Hawai’i past No. 10 Long Beach State
All-American middle attacker Tyler Averill had both a match-high 14 kills and nine blocks as No. 6 Hawai’i defeated No. 10 Long Beach State 25-22, 24-26, 25-14, 25-22 on Friday in Long Beach, California.
Averill in the conference victory led all players with a .545 attack percentage to help the Rainbow Warriors out-hit the 49ers .224 to .126. In addition, the win moves Hawai’i into a tie with No. 5 Pepperdine for third place in MPSF and a half-match out of first place. (more…)

Midseason front-runners for 2015 National Player of the Year
Halfway through the regular season and it remains a wide-open field for who will be the 2015 National Player of the Year at the end of the season.

Hawai’i AD proposes cutting men’s volleyball program
Hawai’i is considering eliminating its men’s volleyball program in an effort to make-up for a multi-million dollar budget deficit.
Hawai’i athletics director Ben Jay presented a report to the school’s Board of Regents on Thursday that outlined three options, including cutting its men’s volleyball team, to help fix the athletics department’s projected $3.5 million budget shortfall. (more…)
