Concordia-Irvine outside attackers react to upset of No. 10/10 BYU

Concordia-Irvine outside attackers Raymond Barsemian and Jordan Hoppe combined for 43 kills in a come-from-behind victory over No. 10/10 BYU on Thursday.

The Eagles attacked at a .444 clip in the last two games. However, BYU out-blocked Concordia-Irvine, 14 to 1.5, and opposite Gabi Garcia Fernandez had a season-best 31 kills.

Outside attacker Jordan Hoppe had both a match-high 13 kills and three aces to help Concordia-Irvine upset No. 5/5 UC Irvine 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 on Wednesday in Irvine, California.

Hoppe was one of three Eagles with double-digit kills as the team extended its winning streak to five matches and earned its first all-time win against UC Irvine. Concordia-Irvine libero Weiser wins 2018 Erik Shoji Award

The libero who helped his team earn its first postseason victory as a NCAA Division I-II program is now adding a college men’s volleyball national honor to his senior season.

Setter Chandler Gibb showed exactly why he was an All-MPSF selection.

Gibb guided the Concordia-Irvine offense to a .318 attack percentage and had a match-high eight blocks to sweep Grand Canyon 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 in the MPSF Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday in Irvine, California.
