    The madness of April is upon us.

    Five conference tournament matches will be played tonight as well as a defacto play-in match for the four-team EIVA Tournament starting next week. The four MPSF Tournament quarterfinal matches highlight postseason play today as five West Coast teams enter still with a chance to get the at-large bid the NCAA Tournament.

  • Initial look at the MIVA and MPSF quarterfinal matches

    It took the final day of a four-month regular season to settle all the seeds, but the NCAA men’s volleyball postseason is finally upon us.

  • Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    The final day of the regular season is here and there are still so many seeds undecided for the conference tournaments.

    Five MPSF teams enter today with a chance to claim at least a share of the MPSF regular season championship. In addition, No. 9 Lewis looks to get a share of the MIVA regular season title, while Grand Canyon and IPFW are both fighting for a home match in the MIVA Tournament.

  • VIDEO: Ferguson breaks down upcoming matches, USC’s chances at MPSF title

    The Trojans enters the final week of the regular season with two remaining conference matches and a chance to win the MPSF regular season championship.

    No. 1 USC closes its regular season on the road with matches against No. 10 Long Beach State at 7 p.m. Thursday and Cal State Northridge at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Trojans can win a share of the MPSF regular season title if they win one of these matches and will win the conference out-right and get the No. 1 seed for the MPSF Tournament if they win both matches.

  • VIDEO: Stanford survives late rally from Northridge, wins in 5 games

    Outside attacker Brian Cook had a match-high 23 kills and the game-winning block in the fifth-game overtime as No. 5 Stanford defeated Cal State Northridge 25-19, 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 19-17 on Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif.

    With this victory, Stanford remains tied for fourth place in the MPSF and trails first-place No. 1 USC by one match. Check out the video highlights from game five of the Stanford and Cal State Northridge match.

  • Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    The conference tournaments are still two weeks away but this weekend will have a postseason feel because of all the big matches with conference tournament seeding implications.

    No. 3 BYU will open a two-match series at No. 4 UCLA with a chance to win the MPSF regular season title, while No. 8 Ohio State and No. 9 Lewis will continue to battle for first place in the MIVA.

    No. 10 Ohio State will try to move back into the top three of the MIVA standings as it plays host to Loyola in a nationally televised match. In addition, out on the West Coast two top 10 teams face each other as No. 5 Stanford travels to No. 8 Pepperdine.

    Less than a month from the start of the conference tournaments, teams will be jockeying for postseason seeding in several critical match-ups this weekend in college men’s volleyball.

    No. 3 BYU will attempt to take sole possession of first place in the MPSF as it travels to play No. 9 Long Beach State. In addition, Grand Canyon will try to continue its shocking run through the MIVA and upset Loyola in a two-match weekend series.

  • Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    It’s all about the story lines on the sidelines tonight in college men’s volleyball.

    UCLA coach Al Scates and Pepperdine coach Marv Dunphy will face each other for the final time in a coaching rivalry stretching back 35 years. In addition, Mike Wilton after being the Hawai’i head coach for 17 years will make his first trip back to the islands as a BYU assistant coach.
