    It’s a light slate of matches but they have plenty of intrigue and importance with only a few weeks remaining in the regular season.

    No. 2 Long Beach State will travel to play No. 7 USC in the marquee match of the night and the only match featuring two top 10 ranked teams. In addition out in the Midwest, No. 10 Lewis will play host to Penn State in their annual non-conference meeting.

  • Video: USC coach, players react to sweep against Cal State Northridge

    Coach Bill Ferguson didn’t have to worry about his team’s overlooking Cal State Northridge with looming match against No. 2 Long Beach State.

    Ferguson said following No. 7 USC’s sweep against Cal State Northridge on Friday that the Trojans have started to tighten their play on the court and increased their focus heading into the final weeks of the regular season.

  • Video: Jansen helps power No. 7 USC past Cal State Northridge

    No. 7 USC returning to its historic former homecourt of North Gym made quick work of Cal State Northridge and further solidified its playoff positioning.

    Opposite Tanner Jansen had a match-high 13 kills on a .500 attack percentage as the Trojans swept the Matadors 25-20, 25-20, 25-20 on Friday in Los Angeles.

  • Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    The madness of March has descended onto college men’s volleyball.

    No. 1 Loyola and Penn State highlights the slate of matches tonight as both teams eye picking up another signature non-conference victory that could impress the NCAA Tournament selection committee. In addition, No. 7 USC will play host to Cal State Northridge and needs a victory to remain in contention for a possible NCAA Tournament at-large bid.

  • Penn State, Goodell too much for Cal State Northridge in sweep

    Outside attacker Nick Goodell continued to put up big offensive numbers and Penn State picked up a big non-conference victory on the West Coast.

    Goodell had a match-high 15 kills and 11 digs as Penn State swept Cal State Northridge 25-17, 25-23, 25-20 on Friday in Long Beach, Calif., to open the Active Ankle Tournament.

    Postseason implications are in full effect tonight.

    No. 3 BYU and No. 8 UC Irvine will meet in a rematch of the 2013 NCAA finals that could have significant ramifications in the MPSF standings. In addition, No. 4 UC Santa Barbara will play No. 5 Pepperdine with both teams eye a potential at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

    Don’t let the lack match-ups between top 10 nationally ranked teams fool anyone, this is a big night in college men’s volleyball.

    First-place in the EIVA will be on the line as Princeton and Harvard renew their rivalry in a critical conference match. In addition, out in the West Coast No. 2 BYU, No. 4 UCLA and No. 5 Pepperdine will each attempt to bounce back from conference losses earlier this week.

  • Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    It’s all about the rematch tonight in college men’s volleyball.

    No. 2 BYU and No. 4 Pepperdine will play each other for the second in time in four weeks in another showdown between two top-five ranked teams. In addition, No. 3 UCLA and Hawai’i will close out their two-match conference series after the Rainbow Warriors pulled off the upset in the opener.

  • Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    For it being a light slate of matches tonight, there is still plenty of intrigue.

    One of the top defensive teams in the nation will go up against one of the top offensive teams in the nation as No. 4 UC Santa Barbara travels to play No. 9 Stanford. In addition, the Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic begins tonight with Princeton playing Concordia-Irvine in the semifinals.

  • Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    It’s a smaller than usual slate of matches for a Saturday night, but there is still plenty of intrigue with several matches.

    No. 3 Pepperdine days after knocking off No. 1 UCLA will now take on No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, which is coming off an emotional five-game loss to No. 6 USC. In addition, Ball State and Princeton will play each other in a critical non-conference match for both teams.
