    Opposite Matt Underwood had a team-high 13 kills and five blocks as No. 6 BYU swept No. 13 CSUN 28-26, 25-21, 25-15 on Friday in Northridge, California.

    With this victory, the Cougars clinched a berth to the upcoming eight-team MPSF Tournament. It also ended BYU’s six match losing streak — the program’s longest streak since 1991. (more…)

  • Top college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    Only a few weeks until the postseason and several matches today could go a long way to determining the conference tournament fields.

    No. 6 BYU and No. 13 CSUN will open a two-match weekend series with both teams facing a near must-win situation for completely different reasons. In addition, No. 1 Hawai’i will attempt to remain in first place in the MPSF as it plays host to No. 15 Stanford. (more…)

    Everything from streaks to first place in the conference standings is on the line tonight.

    No. 5 UC Irvine will attempt to become the first team in almost two years to win a road match against No. 6 BYU as the two teams open a two-match series in Provo, Utah. In addition, No. 8 Penn State and Princeton will meet each other in a rematch of the 2014 EIVA Tournament championship match. (more…)

  • Video: Taylor, Kalmbach power No. 4 Pepperdine past No. 6 BYU

    Outside attacker Josh Taylor and opposite Parker Kalmbach each had a match-high 24 kills as No. 4 Pepperdine defeated No. 6 BYU 26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 27-25 on Saturday.

    The Waves out-hit the Cougars .407 to .333 to complete the two-match series sweep. It was also second consecutive match that Pepperdine finished with more than a .400 attack percentage against BYU, which entered the weekend holding opponents to a second-best in the conference .201 attack percentage.   • Top college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    Before any postseason brackets can get busted in April there are several matches tonight that could go a long way to determining the teams and match-ups in those brackets.

    No. 4 Pepperdine playing host to No. 6 BYU highlights the slate of matches with both teams need a win to move up in the conference standings. In addition, No. 7 USC will attempt to bounce-back from an upset loss earlier in the week as travels to No. 9 Long Beach State. (more…)
