Penn State schedules home series against Hawai’i for 2026

·

This time it will be Hawai’i traveling more than 5,000 miles to renew the non-conference series with Penn State.

Penn State as part of unveiling its 2026 schedule announced it will play host to a two-match series against Hawai’i in January.

The Nittany Lions and Rainbow Warriors have previously met 28 times with 22 of those matches taking place at Hawai’i.

Hawai’i has never traveled to Penn State for a regular season match. Penn State, though, was the host site of the 2002 NCAA Tournament when Hawai’i defeated Penn State and Pepperdine to win the national championship.

The Nittany Lions return a majority of starters after winning its third consecutive EIVA championship last season. Penn State also defeated Daemen in the NCAA Tournament opening round and then lost to Hawai’i in the quarterfinals.

Hawai’i last season won the Big West championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals. Among the All-American starters slated to return for the Rainbow Warriors includes Tread Rosenthal, who was a finalist for the 2025 Lloy Ball Award.

The Rainbow Warriors have won the last two meetings against the Nittany Lions, which both occurred in the NCAA Tournament.

Penn State will have four non-conference matches against teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Along with the Hawai’i series, Penn State will travel to the West Coast to play the defending MPSF champions Pepperdine and the defending NCAA champions Long BEach STate
