How they reached the quarterfinals: The United States went undefeated in pool-play to win the Pool A title, swept Bulgaria in the Round of 16 and defeated France in five games in the quarterfinals. Iran went undefeated in pool-play to win the Pool B title, defeated Argentina in four games in the Round of 16 and swept China in the quarterfinals.
Stats to know: UCLA outside attacker Sean Kelly leads the United States and is among the tournament leaders with 82 kills, including having at least 20 kills in two matches. Iran middle attacker Taha Behboudnia is second at the tournament with 25 blocks and had five blocks against China in the quarterfinals.
