USC commit Blake Fahlbusch delivered a gold-medal worth performance in the finals.
Fahlbusch finished with a match-high 15 kills on a .467 attack percentage as the United States swept the host-nation Mexico 25-20, 25-21, 25-18 in the U19 NORCECA Pan American Cup gold-medal match on Sunday.
The pin-hitter committed one attack error in the victory and led the United States with six kills in the second game. Fahlbusch also had five kills and zero errors in the final game to help the United States secure its third consecutive U19 Pan American Cup gold-medal.
Lindenwood commit Brett Novak guided offense to out-hit Mexico .407 to .122. The United States opened the finals with a match-best .696 attack percentage in the first game and did not commit an attack error until midway through the second game.
Along with Fahlbusch, BYU commit Corbin Batista contributed 15 kills on a .423 attack percentage and had a game-high six kills in the final game.
Ball State commit Dante Cayaban added six kills and hit .500, while Penn State commit Isiah Powell had five kills and no errors on a .625 attack errors.
Powell also led all players with six blocks. The United States finished the match with 11 blocks – seven more blocks than Mexico.
Pin-hitter Carlos Abraham Grajeda in the loss had a team-high 12 kills. Grajeda, though, was the only Mexico player to have more than five kills.
Mexico in the second game was nearly able to prevent the sweep and even the match.
The United States with the game tied at 19-19 scored four consecutive points and closed out the game on a 6-2 run. Batista started the run with a kill to end a near 45 second rally and then delivered the game-winning kill.
Powell and Fahlbusch each contributed a kill and a block during the late-game rally.
The United States finished the Pan American Cup undefeated, including four consecutive sweeps to close out the tournament. The team dropped one set through the entire international event.
