
Add another national honor to the college career of UC Irvine outside attacker Hilir Henno.
Off the Block announced Friday that a nationwide voting committee for the second consecutive year selected Henno as the recipient of the Karch Kiraly Award..
The Karch Kiraly Award, which is named after the former UCLA All-American and U.S. Olympian, is presented to the nation’s best outside attacker in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball during the regular season.
Henno finished second in the nation with a 4.40 kills per game average on a .354 attack percentage. The outside attacker had at least 20 kills in six matches, including a season-high 28 kills against CSUN in the Big West Tournament quarterfinals.
Along with the offensive performance, Henno was second in the nation with a 0.79 aces per game average.
The voting committee for the Karch Kiraly Award was comprised of more than 25 coaches and media members from around the nation. The top three vote-getters were named finalists for the Karch Kiraly Award.
Henno received 61 votes to beat out the runner-up UCLA outside attacker Cooper Robinson by 23 votes. USC outside attacker Dillon Klein finished in third place with 20 votes.
This is the 11th year that Off the Block has presented the Karch Kiraly Award.
Off the Block is a national award winning website that launched in 2011 and is the nation’s leader in college men’s volleyball coverage.
