The college career of Loyola middle attacker Nicodemus Meyer is being capped off with a national honor.
Off the Block announced Thursday that a nationwide voting committee selected Meyer as the recipient of the 2025 National Blocker of the Year.
The Off the Block National Blocker of the Year recognizes the NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball player with the best front-row defensive performance during the regular season.
Meyer finished the season third in the nation with a 1.20 blocks per game average and helped the Ramblers win the MIVA championship for the first time in 10 years. The senior had at least five blocks in 13 matches, including a season-high 11 blocks in a victory against CSUN.
The voting committee for the National Blocker of the Year was comprised of more than 25 coaches and media members from around the nation. The top three vote-getters were named finalists for the National Blocker of the Year.
Meyer received 58 votes to become the first Rambler in program history to win this award. USC freshman middle attacker Parker Tomkinson was the runner-up with 23 votes, while Lincoln Memorial middle attacker Matthew Gentry finished in third place with eight votes.
This is the 15th year that Off the Block has presented the National Blocker of the Year.
Off the Block is a national award winning website that launched in 2011 and is the nation’s leader in college men’s volleyball coverage.
