What to know: The defending ConfCarolinas champions will go up against one of the top offensive players in the nation as Belmont Abbey plays host to Lees-McRae in the opening round of the ConfCarolinas Tournament. Lees-McRae outside attacker Michael Marsans leads the nation with a 5.38 kills per game average and has at least 20 kills in nine matches. Among those offensive performances includes a match-high 24 kills in a five-game victory against Belmont Abbey in March. The Bobcats have upset the Crusaders twice in the last two years, but both of those wins were at home and the team has not won at Belmont Abbey since 2014. The Crusaders return to the conference tournament after winning the title last year and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Belmont Abbey closed out the regular season with five consecutive conference losses to drop to the No. 6 seed. The team, though, has two players among the national leaders for kills. Opposite Andrew Kohut is averaging 3.36 kills per game and is 12th in the country with a 0.51 aces per game average. Outside attacker Matteo Miselli leads Belmont Abbey with a 3.51 kills per game average.

Season series: Erskine won in five games in March and then had a road sweep against Barton earlier this month.

What to know: Something has to give with Barton and Erskine meeting in the ConfCarolinas Tournament quarterfinals. Erskine is attempting to earn its first postseason win since winning the ConfCarolinas championship and reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2016. In addition, Barton is attempting to become the first team in the rally scoring era to win a postseason match after going winless during the regular season. Outside attacker Edgerrin Austin leads Erskine and is fifth in the conference averaging 3.29 kills per game. Austin also had a team-high 16 kills on a .300 attack percentage in a road sweep against Barton earlier this month. Despite the winless regular season, Barton pushed Erskine to a decisive fifth game in March. Outside attacker Brandon Johnston in the loss finished with a match-high 19 kills. Johnston is in the top 10 of the ConfCarolinas averaging 3.23 kills per game average and enters the postseason with double-digit kills in two consecutive matches.
