Outside attacker Tobi Azeez has capped off the best regular season of his college career with one of the top ConfCarolinas honors.

The conference announced Monday that Azeez was selected as the 2021 ConfCarolinas Offensive Player of the Year.

Azeez led the nation with a 4.51 kills per game average on a career-best .309 attack percentage as he helped lead Mount Olive to the ConfCarolinas regular season championship. The outside attacker had at least 20 kills in six matches, including a single-match program record 33 kills while hitting .403 in a five-game victory against its rival Barton in the regular season finale.

Along with his offensive performance, Azeez was in the ConfCarolinas top 10 averaging both 0.41 aces per game and 2.32 digs per game.

This is the first time since 2014 that a Trojan has been named the ConfCarolinas Offensive Player of the Year. In addition, Azeez is the third Mount Olive player in its program history to win the award.

Mount Olive received two of the other top individual awards that the ConfCarolinas unveiled on Monday. Outside attacker was selected as the ConfCarolinas Freshman of the Year, while Ali’i Keohohou was named as the ConfCarolinas Coach of the Year.

King libero Noah Melendez also earned the ConfCarolinas Defensive Player of the Year.

The ConfCarolinas Tournament will continue on Tuesday with both quarterfinal matches. In addition the conference tournament semifinals and finals will be played during the weekend at King.
