Ohio State will be the host site for all six NCAA Tournament matches this season.

The NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee and NCAA Men’s Volleyball Committee recently approved moving the upcoming NCAA Tournament play-in match and the two opening-round matches to the Covelli Center on the Ohio State campus.

The Covelli Center was already slated to be the host site for the both NCAA Tournament semifinals on Thursday, May 6 and the NCAA Tournament finals on Saturday, May 8.

This will be the first time since the tournament expanded to seven teams and the play-in match was added in 2018 that every NCAA Tournament match will take place at the same value.

The play-in match typically has been played on the home court of one of the teams competing in that postseason match. The other two opening round matches at the request of the men’s volleyball committee are usually played at the championship site venue, but the NCAA can determine the location of those matches on a year-by-year basis.

The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament features seven teams — five automatic bids from the conferences and two at-large bids. The top-two teams receive byes to the semifinals, while the five other teams compete in the opening-round matches starting with the play-in match.

The Covelli Center is a $49 million state of the art college arena and has been the home court for Ohio State the last two seasons. Among the features of the 100,000-square-foot stadium includes a new public address sound system, large video scoreboards and modernized locker rooms and film rooms.
