OTB, Springbak release new college men’s volleyball national media poll

Two more victories against top-10 ranked teams and an Outrigger Invitational championship propelled BYU up the media poll rankings.

The Cougars jumped one spot to No. 2 in the latest Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll that was released on Tuesday.

BYU went undefeated at the Outrigger Invitational, including a four-game road win against then-No. 2 Hawai’i in the tournament’s defacto championship match on Saturday. In addition, the victories extended the Cougars’ winning streak to a conference-best 12 matches.

Long Beach State remains the unanimous No. 1 in the national media poll.

Fort Wayne following an upset victory against No. 4 UC Irvine last week also climbed to No. 10. This was the first time this season that the Mastodons have been ranked in the poll.

The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.

A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
