Final day to vote in Off the Block Fan Choice Player of the Month

Fans have less than 24 hours to vote for one of the seven finalists for the Off the Block Fan Choice Player of the Month award.

The Player of the Month award recognizes the best individual performances from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball players during the month and gives volleyball fans from around the world the chance to determine who was the best player.

Fans will determine the winner of the Player of the Month award for January through online voting on the Off the Block website. The online poll is now open and closes at 11:59 p.m. (EST) Wednesday.

Thomas Amberg, UCLA middle attacker
Amberg leads the MPSF with a .582 attack percentage and is in the MPSF top five with a 1.58 blocks per game average. The senior was also named to the Outrigger Invitational All-Tournament Team as UCLA went undefeated at the non-conference tournament to win the championship.

Carson Clark, UC Irvine outside attacker
Clark leads UC Irvine and is among the MPSF leaders with a 3.75 kills per game average. In addition, the senior has double-digit kills in all but one of the Anteaters’ five matches against top-five ranked teams, including a match-high 17 kills in a victory against UCLA at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational championship match.

Tony Ciarelli, USC outside attacker
Ciarelli leads the Trojans and is second in the MPSF with a 4.47 kills per game average. The senior also had 44 combined kills in two road losses against No. 1 BYU as USC’s three-match winning streak to open the season was snapped.

Edgardo Goas, Penn State setter
Goas is among the EIVA leaders with a 12.56 assists per game average. The senior helped the Nittany Lions offense have more than a .300 attack percentage in three of the their last four matches, including a season-high .391 attack percentage in a victory against Pacific on Saturday.

Jay Petty, Lewis outside attacker
Petty leads the Flyers and is among the MIVA leaders with a 3.77 kills per game average. In addition, the junior was named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 17 after having 13 kills in an upset victory against then-No. 5 Penn State.

Taylor Sander, BYU outside attacker
Sander leads the MPSF both with 15 aces and a 4.90 kills per game average. The sophomore was also named the AVCA National Player of the Week twice during the first month of the regular season as he helped No. 1 BYU extend its winning streak to six matches.

Shawn Sangrey, Ohio State outside attacker
Sangrey leads the MIVA with a 4.45 kills per game average and is the only player in the nation with more than 300 attack attempts. The junior also had 56 combined kills last weekend as Ohio State went 1-1 at the Dunlap Invitational, including 30 kills in a five-game loss to then-No. 4 Stanford.
