Multiple players who led their high schools to state championships will continue their volleyball careers at Lewis.

Lewis recently announced that Marty Jpsen, Davon Lampkin and Carter Burzlaff have committed to play for the Flyers beginning in the 2020 season.

Jespen, a 6-foot outside attacker and libero from Chicago, won back-to-back conference player of the year honors with his high school team. In addition, Jepsen during his senior season helped his school finish 40-2 and win the state title.

Lampkin, a 6-foot-5 middle attacker from San Diego, was a two-time all-city selection during his high school career. He also led his high school in 2018 to both a league title and the California state championship.

Burzlaff, a 6-foot-5 setter and opposite from Elgin, Illinois, earned all-conference honors as a senior after ending the season with 61 aces and a .370 attack percentage. The high school team that season finished 25-5 and reached the regional finals.

With the addition of these three players, Lewis’ incoming recruiting class is now at eight players.

Lewis won the 2019 MIVA championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament semifinals. Among the starters returning for the Flyers in 2020 includes All-American outside attacker Ryan Coenen and All-American middle attacker Tyler Mitchem.
