The opening week of the 2014 season had everything from five of the top 10 nationally ranked teams losing to a champion being crowned at the UC Santa Barbara Invitational.

Freshman outside attacker Yoder lifts No. 11 USC past No. 7 Loyola
USC outside attacker Lucas Yoder lived up to the hype of being one of the top rated high school recruits in the nation.
Yoder in his college debut had a match-high 16 kills and a .609 attack percentage as No. 11 USC upset No. 7 Loyola 27-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-15 on Saturday in Chicago.

USC went international for recruiting and landed the top ranked high school prospect from Puerto Rico.
Coach Bill Ferguson announced Thursday that Puerto Rican National Team opposite Jon Rivera to a national letter of intent to join the Trojans for the 2015 season.
