The Trojans after winning the MPSF regular season championship during the weekend received every first-place vote in the new national media poll released Tuesday.

Deeper look at men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament selection criteria
Best of luck to the three-person NCAA Tournament selection committee trying to figure out this year’s field — it’s that close.
With the regular season over and the conference tournaments about to start, the race for the lone at-large bid and seeding for the NCAA Tournament remains tight among the nation’s top teams. In addition, a closer look at the criteria used by the selection committee shows because of the close race the conference tournament matches could have an increased significance in determining this year’s at-large bid.

Initial look at the MIVA and MPSF quarterfinal matches
It took the final day of a four-month regular season to settle all the seeds, but the NCAA men’s volleyball postseason is finally upon us.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight
The final day of the regular season is here and there are still so many seeds undecided for the conference tournaments.
Five MPSF teams enter today with a chance to claim at least a share of the MPSF regular season championship. In addition, No. 9 Lewis looks to get a share of the MIVA regular season title, while Grand Canyon and IPFW are both fighting for a home match in the MIVA Tournament.

My men’s volleyball media poll ballot
[Editor’s note: In an earlier version of this post, UCLA setter Kyle Caldwell was cited as still suffering from an achilles tendon injury. UCLA coach Al Scates informed Off the Block on Wednesday that Caldwell’s injury is full healed. The story has been updated to reflect this changes.]
Servegate bumped BYU up in the national rankings.
BYU after winning the replay of a fifth game overtime against UCLA during the weekend moved up one spot to No. 3 in the new national media poll released Tuesday.

Deeper look at men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament selection criteria
UCLA could still win the MPSF regular season title, but a deeper look into the NCAA Tournament selection committee shows that a regular season title may not be enough for the Bruins to get the at-large bid.
With one week remaining in the regular season, the race for the lone at-large bid and seeding for the NCAA Tournament remains tight among the nation’s top teams. In addition, UCLA is one of five teams that still has a chance to win the MPSF regular season title.

VIDEO: Stanford survives late rally from Northridge, wins in 5 games
Outside attacker Brian Cook had a match-high 23 kills and the game-winning block in the fifth-game overtime as No. 5 Stanford defeated Cal State Northridge 25-19, 25-21, 22-25, 22-25, 19-17 on Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif.
With this victory, Stanford remains tied for fourth place in the MPSF and trails first-place No. 1 USC by one match. Check out the video highlights from game five of the Stanford and Cal State Northridge match.

VIDEO: No. 5 Stanford makes quick work of No. 10 Long Beach
Libero Erik Shoji had a match-high 17 digs as No. 5 Stanford held No. 10 Long Beach State to a .098 attack percentage and swept the 49ers 25-13, 25-16, 25-18 on Friday in Palo Alto, Calif.
With this victory, Stanford remains in contention for a top four seed in the MPSF Tournament. Check out the video highlights from this match.
