The conference standings got even more jumbled this weekend with numerous upsets across the nation.

No. 1 Loyola will attempt to remain atop the national rankings as it plays host to Ohio State in its MIVA opener. In addition, out in the West Coast the MPSF season continues with a marquee match-up between No. 3 BYU and No. 6 USC.

With the college men’s volleyball season less than two weeks away from starting, Off the Block is making its bold predictions on everything from conference championship races to what will happen in the NCAA championship match.
After two years of finishing outside the top four in the EIVA, St. Francis is eyeing a return to the postseason this upcoming season.
St. Francis coach Mike Rumbaugh said in an interview with Off the Block during the weekend that he feels confident the Red Flashes can contend for a spot in the four-team EIVA Tournament with how the team has looked in the fall preseason.
Outside attacker Aaron Russell in limited time on the court during Penn State’s preseason opener showed why he was reigning EIVA Player of the Year.
Russell tied for a team-high with 11 kills as Penn State defeated its in-state, conference rival St. Francis 25-21, 22-25, 25-19, 22-25, 15-13 to open the Penn State Fall Invitational on Thursday in University Park, Pa.
St. Francis for just the third time in its program’s history will travel to the West Coast.
The Red Flashes last week released their 2014 regular season that is highlighted with a non-conference match against Cal Baptist during a mid-season West Coast road trip.

Off the Blocked selected and seeded the 65 players in a bracket, and now it is up to the fans to determine who should win the Off the Block Fan Choice Player of the Year.
The Fan Choice Player of the Year recognizes the best individual performances from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball players during the season and gives volleyball fans from around the world the chance decide the winner through online voting.

The Midwest and East Coast have the majority of top matches tonight, but the spotlight will be on the West Coast for another match-up between two top-five nationally ranked teams.
No. 1 BYU and No. 4 Long Beach State will play each other in a match that could not only have big implications in the conference standings but in the race for the lone at-large spot to the NCAA Tournament. In addition, out in the MIVA Lindenwood looks to pull another upset this weekend as it plays host to Loyola.
