    For it being a light slate of matches tonight, there is still plenty of intrigue.

    One of the top defensive teams in the nation will go up against one of the top offensive teams in the nation as No. 4 UC Santa Barbara travels to play No. 9 Stanford. In addition, the Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic begins tonight with Princeton playing Concordia-Irvine in the semifinals.

  • Q&A with Princeton men’s volleyball coach Sam Shweisky

    The Volley Hall of Fame Morgan Classic is more than just a regular non-conference tournament for Princeton coach Sam Shweisky and his players.

    With Princeton vying for a spot in the EIVA Tournament, Shweisky said in an interview with Off the Block earlier this week that he is using the Morgan Classic as a chance to give his team a tournament experience before potentially competing in the conference tournament.

  • Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    It’s a smaller than usual slate of matches for a Saturday night, but there is still plenty of intrigue with several matches.

    No. 3 Pepperdine days after knocking off No. 1 UCLA will now take on No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, which is coming off an emotional five-game loss to No. 6 USC. In addition, Ball State and Princeton will play each other in a critical non-conference match for both teams.

  • Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    Several teams outside the top 10 of the national rankings have a chance to get a statement victory tonight.

    Hawai’i and Cal State Northridge highlight the slate of matches tonight as both teams try to move up in the MPSF standings. In addition, Princeton will attempt to bounce back from a winless West Coast road trip with a non-conference match against IPFW.

  • Video: Men’s volleyball national media poll ballot breakdown

    Long Beach State days after winning the UC Santa Barbara Invitational is now sitting atop the national media poll.

    The 49ers received all but one first-place vote to be ranked No. 1 in the season’s first Volleyball Magazine Poll that was released Tuesday afternoon.

  • Season Preview: Contenders for the 2014 National Player of Year award

    Good luck trying to predict who will win the biggest individual award in college men’s volleyball for the upcoming season.

    The two National Player of the Year winners from last year, BYU outside attacker Taylor Sander and Long Beach State outside attacker Taylor Crabb, return for their senior seasons. However, the field remains wide open in the race for 2014 National Player of the Year.

  • Penn State picked to win another EIVA championship in 2014

    The defending EIVA champions are once again projected to win another conference title in 2014.

    Penn State received all but one first-place vote as it finished atop the EIVA preseason coaches poll that was released Wednesday morning.

  • Top 10 storylines from college men’s volleyball during the summer

    So much for a quiet off-season summer in college men’s volleyball.

    The last three months produced everything from the announcement of what conferences will have to participate in the new NCAA Tournament play-in match to schools scheduling big non-conference matches for the upcoming season.   • Princeton among teams in tournament field for 2014 Morgan Classic

    For the first time in its program history, Princeton will compete in one of the oldest and most prestigious annual non-conference men’s volleyball tournaments.

    The Volleyball Hall of Fame informed Off the Block during the weekend that Princeton, UC Santa Cruz, Concordia and the host school Springfield will be the four-team field for the 2014 Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic.
