    The conference tournament semifinals have created mayhem to NCAA Tournament bracketology as three teams could still potentially land the at-large bid heading into Conference Championship Saturday.

    The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament is comprised of four teams. Automatic bids are awarded to the winners of the EIVA, MIVA and MPSF conference tournaments, and the NCAA Men’s Volleyball National Committee chooses one team for an at-large bid.

    Things just become a whole lot more complicated for the men’s volleyball NCAA selection committee after all the conference tournament semifinals results that included Long Beach State beating UC Irvine to advance to the conference championship match.

  • Conference tournament men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    Four more tickets will be punched to Conference Championship Saturday by the end of the night.

    The top-four nationally ranked teams will be on display in Provo, Utah, with both MPSF Tournament semifinal matches, including No. 2 UC Irvine playing No. 3 Long Beach State in match potentially critical to the NCAA Tournament at-large bid. In addition out in the East Coast, Penn State will look to continue its 15-year domination of the conference tournament as the EIVA Tournament begins tonight.

    The near upsets conference tournament quarterfinals during the weekend almost caused upheaval to the bracketology projections. However that overhaul to the projections for the four-team NCAA Tournament can still take place as the conference tournament semifinals begin Wednesday.

  • Conference tournament men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    Consider tonight a small sampling of the postseason.

    With most conference tournament quarterfinals matches scheduled for Saturday, Loyola and Quincy will open the MIVA Tournament quarterfinals in tonight’s only postseason match. In addition, Penn State looks to close out its regular season by capturing an out-right EIVA regular season title.

  • EIVA announces Player of the Year, all-conference teams

    For the first time in more than five years, a non-Penn State player has earned EIVA Player of the Year of the Year honors.

    George Mason outside attacker Mark Jones and Penn State outside attacker Aaron Russell were selected as the 2013 Uvaldo Acosta Memorial EIVA Co-Players of the Year, the league announced Friday afternoon.

  • Off the Block announces 2013 Men’s Volleyball Reporter All-American Team

    Seven college journalists were selected to the second-annual Off the Block Men’s Volleyball Reporter All-American Team.

    The Off the Block Men’s Volleyball Reporter All-American Team recognizes the nation’s top men’s volleyball reporters from student college media outlets during the college men’s volleyball regular season.
