  • Ohio State to play Long Beach State at 2014 Active Ankle Tournament

    For the second time in almost 20 years, Ohio State will return to Long Beach State to play a non-conference match.

    Long Beach State earlier this week unveiled its 2014 regular season schedule that included the team playing Ohio State as part of the 49ers’ annual home tournament the Active Ankle Tournament.

  • Penn State, Long Beach State to play each other in 2014 season

    For the first time in three years, Penn State and Long Beach State will play each other in non-conference play.

    Nittany Lions coach Mark Pavlik said in a recent interview with Off the Block that Penn State will travel to play Long Beach State as part of the annual Active Ankle Tournament during the 2014 season.

  • Long Beach State’s Crabb wins Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Players’ Choice National Player of the Year

    A nationwide voting committee comprised entirely of college men’s volleyball players selected Long Beach State outside attacker Taylor Crabb as the 2013 Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Players’ Choice National Player of the Year.

    The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Players’ Choice National Player of the Year is a new award presented to the NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball player with the nation’s best individual performance during the most recent season.

  • Volleyball Magazine reveals 2013 Player of the Year, All-American teams

    There is a split decision this year to the National Player of the Year.

    BYU outside attacker Taylor Sander was named the 2013 Volleyball Magazine Player of the Year — one month after the All-American junior lost the AVCA National Player of the Year honor to Long Beach State outside attacker Taylor Crabb. (more…)

  • 7 college recruits selected to initial roster for U.S. Youth National Team

    Seven incoming college men’s volleyball freshman recruits are among the players being considered to represent the United States at the one of the world’s biggest international tournament this summer.

    USA Volleyball announced Monday that seven high school seniors were among the 17 players selected to the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Training Team for the upcoming FIVB U-19 Youth World Championship.
