There will be no split decision this season on who is the National Player of the Year.
Outside attacker Taylor Sander after leading BYU to a conference title and NCAA Tournament berth was voted the 2014 Volleyball Magazine National Player of the Year in the magazine’s latest issue released earlier this week.

The fans have spoken and BYU outside attacker Taylor Sander is the 2014 Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Fan Choice Player of the Year.
Sander received more than 2,000 votes in the four-person championship round to win the annual college men’s volleyball national award decided solely by the fans.
After four rounds and more than 10,000 online votes, the four-player field is set for the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Fan Choice Player of the Year Championship Round.
The Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. Fan Choice Player of the Year is an annual 64-player bracket-style tournament that recognizes the best individual performances from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball players during the season and gives volleyball fans from around the world the chance decide the winner through online voting.

The growth of college men’s volleyball on social media expanded exponentially during the most recent season.
A recent Off the Block study of NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball social media accounts revealed that the amount teams with at least 1,000 Twitter followers has more than doubled since the start of the 2014 season.
The MPSF champions BYU once again finished the season leading the nation in home attendance average.
For the third consecutive season, BYU led all NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams in home attendance — averaging more than 500 people per home match than any other school.
It was as crazy and dramatic as possible in the NCAA Tournament semifinals with both matches going to a decisive fifth game.

Fourth time was a charm for Stanford.
After losing three previous meetings this season, the No. 3 seed Stanford rallied from a one-game deficit and fought off two match-points to beat the No. 2 seed BYU 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, 29-27, 15-12 in the NCAA Tournament semifinals on Tuesday in Chicago. (more…)
Four teams remain and by the end of the night only two will be left still fighting for a national championship.
The NCAA Tournament semifinals get underway tonight at Loyola’s Gentile Arena as Stanford and BYU play each other in a rematch of the MPSF Tournament championship match. In addition, two traditional conference powerhouses Penn State and Loyola will meet in the other semifinal match.
