  • Harvard hires former Ball State player as new assistant coach

    A former Ball State men’s volleyball outside attacker will be coaching in the EIVA for the upcoming season.

    The Harvard athletics department announced Wednesday that it hired Jeff Aucoin has an assistant coach for the Crimson women’s and men’s volleyball teams for the 2013-14 school year.

  • 7 college recruits selected to initial roster for U.S. Youth National Team

    Seven incoming college men’s volleyball freshman recruits are among the players being considered to represent the United States at the one of the world’s biggest international tournament this summer.

    USA Volleyball announced Monday that seven high school seniors were among the 17 players selected to the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Training Team for the upcoming FIVB U-19 Youth World Championship.

    UC Irvine days after repeating as national champions now ends the season atop the national media poll.

    The Anteaters received every first-place vote to move back to No. 1 in the season’s final nation media poll that was released Tuesday.

  • Top 13 things to take away from the 2013 college men’s volleyball season

  • BYU coach McGown selected as National Coach of the Year

    Add another top coaching award to BYU coach Chris McGown’s list this season.

    Hours before BYU plays in its men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament semifinals match, the AVCA announced Thursday afternoon that McGown was selected as the 2013 Men’s Division I-II National Coach of the Year.

  • Conference tournament men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    The postseason spotlight is shining bright on the Chicago area tonight as the MIVA Tournament resumes with both semifinal matches.

    The defending-MIVA champions Lewis look to return to the conference championship match and end Grand Canyon’s underdog run as two teams play in their first postseason meeting against each other. In addition, Ball State will try to end a 14-year curse as it plays Loyola in other semifinal match.

  • Men’s volleyball bracketology

    The near upsets conference tournament quarterfinals during the weekend almost caused upheaval to the bracketology projections. However that overhaul to the projections for the four-team NCAA Tournament can still take place as the conference tournament semifinals begin Wednesday.

    The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament is comprised of four teams. Automatic bids are awarded to the winners of the EIVA, MIVA and MPSF conference tournaments, and the NCAA Men’s Volleyball National Committee chooses one team for an at-large bid.

  • Ball State may have case to get at-large bid to NCAA Tournament

    If Ball State can’t win the MIVA Tournament, it may have a case to earn the lone at-large bid to the men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament.

    An inside look at the criteria used by the NCAA selection committee shows that No. 10 Ball State leads No. 2 UC Irvine and No. 3 Long Beach State in the majority of criteria categories that determine what team receives the at-large bid.

  • Conference tournament men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    The men’s volleyball conference tournament brackets are all set — now let the April Madness ensue.

    The conference tournament quarterfinals matches begin this weekend in the MIVA and MPSF as teams battle to make the four-team NCAA Tournament field. UCLA and Pepperdine highlight tonight’s matches with both teams looking to end postseason droughts, while out in the Midwest, Ball State and IPFW renew an in-state rivalry but this time in the conference tournament.
