  • Penn State’s Russell helps U.S. secure World Championship berth

    The only current college player on the U.S. roster stepped up in a championship match to help the United States clinch a berth to the World Championship.

    Penn State All-American outside attacker Aaron Russell had seven kills and a match-high two aces as the United States swept Guatemala 25-18, 25-22, 25-15 on Sunday in Colorado Springs, Colorado to win the gold medal at NORCECA World Championship Qualifier.

  • U.S. reveals training team roster for upcoming NORCECA tournament

    Ten current college players and 11 incoming freshmen recruits were selected to the U.S. initial roster for an upcoming international tournament.

    USA Volleyball announced Friday afternoon its 21-player roster for the U.S. Men’s Junior National Training Team that will prepare to compete at the NORCECA Under-21 Continental Championship later this summer. (more…)

  • High schools awarded USA Volleyball grant for adding boys’ volleyball teams

    Two high schools in Colorado both received a USA Volleyball grant for starting boys’ volleyball programs.

    USA Volleyball announced earlier this month that Colorado Springs Christian Schools and the Vanguard School were each awarded $500 as part of the Boys’ Scholastic Volleyball Grant program.

  • USC’s Ferguson named new head coach of U.S. Men’s Junior National Team

    Add one more coaching honor to the resume of USC coach Bill Ferguson.

    USA Volleyball announced recently that Ferguson was hired to be the head coach of the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team for the upcoming NORCECA Championships later this year.

  • USC coach: No issue if Christenson plays for U.S. in Grand Champions Cup

    USC coach Bill Ferguson is not only fine if his All-American setter Micah Christenson has to leave the team during the preseason to play with the U.S. Men’s National Team, he is encouraging it.

    Ferguson said in an interview with Off the Block on Tuesday that he hopes Christenson is selected to the U.S. roster for the upcoming FIVB World Grand Champions Cup because of the long-term benefits it would have for the setter and his team.

  • USC setter Christenson leads U.S. to NORCECA championship

    USC setter Micah Christenson made the most of his debut with the U.S. Men’s National Team and is returning home with a championship.

    Christenson guided the offense to a .460 attack percentage as the United States sweep Canada 25-23, 25-20, 25-14 to win the NORCECA Continental Championship on Saturday in Langley, Canada.

  • USC setter Christenson selected to U.S. roster for NORCECA Championships

    USC setter Micah Christenson will have one of the biggest international tournaments of the year to make his case for why he belongs on United States roster for the next Olympics.

    The All-American junior was one of 12 players selected Friday afternoon to the U.S. National Team roster for the upcoming NORCECA Men’s Continental Championship.

  • United States sweeps Canada in its World Championship finale

    Ben Patch in his final competitive match before starting a two-year mission trip gave the United States more than enough on offense to end the World Championship with a victory.

    The BYU All-American freshman playing in only two games had seven kills as the United States swept Canada 25-16, 25-17, 25-18 on Sunday in Turkey to finish in 11th place at the FIVB U21 Men’s Junior World Championship.

  • Brazil dashes U.S. medal hopes at World Championship

    The medal-less drought for the United States at the World Championship lives on.

    The United States was eliminated from medal contention as it lost in the Round of 16 to Brazil 25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22 on Wednesday in Turkey at the FIVB U21 Men’s Junior World Championship.

  • World Championship playoff match to follow: USA vs. Brazil

    Following four challenging preliminary round matches, the United States is now in position to secure spot in the World Championship quarterfinals but will have to defeat one of the top volleyball nations in the world to earn the berth.

    The U.S. Men’s Junior National Team will play Brazil in the Round of 16 at the FIVB U21 Men’s Junior World Championship on Tuesday and try to move one step closer to capturing the nation’s first medal at this international tournament.
