Hall of Fame coach Marv Dunphy isn’t putting any value in preseason expectations — even if they are high for his Pepperdine team.
Dunphy said in a recent interview with Off the Block that he is more focused on replacing player from last year’s Co-MPSF regular season championship team than preseason discussions about the possibility of Pepperdine winning the NCAA title.
A coach with multiple NCAA championships and an Olympic gold medal will be on the sidelines for the U.S. Women’s National Team during its biggest international tournament of the year.
USA Volleyball recently announced that Pepperdine coach Marv Dunphy will serve as an assistant coach for the upcoming FIVB Women’s World Championships.

The U.S. goal winning a gold medal at the IX Men’s Pan American Cup will come up one match short.
In a championship match-up between the only two undefeated teams at the international tournament, Cuba swept the United States 25-16, 25-23, 25-23 to win the Pan Am Cup gold medal on Saturday in Mexico.
A career night from UC Irvine opposite ZacK La Cavera has put the United States into the championship match of an international tournament.
La Cavera led all players with a tournament-high 20 kills as the United States swept Puerto Rico 28-26, 25-22, 26-24 in the semifinals of the IX Men’s Pan American Cup on Friday in Mexico.

An All-American libero and two All-American middle attackers will be among the current college men’s volleyball representing the United States at the IX Men’s Pan American Cup.
USA Volleyball announced Friday that UC Irvine libero Michael Brinkley, Hawai’i middle attacker Tyler Averill, Loyola middle attacker Nicholas Olson and UC Irvine opposite Zack La Cavera were selected to the U.S. roster for the upcoming international tournament.

Two current college men’s volleyball players will join the U.S. Men’s National Team for its upcoming series against Iran.
USA Volleyball announced earlier this week that USC setter Micah Christenson and Penn State outside attacker Aaron Russell were among the 14 players named to the U.S. roster for the USA Volleyball Cup.
The United States is leaving El Salvador with the bronze medal, but there were plenty of storylines that made the NORCECA Continental Championship memorable.

Canada got its revenge and in the process prevented the United States from getting a bid to the FIVB U-21 World Championship.
Two years after losing in the championship match to the United States, Canada overcame a one-game deficit to beat the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team 23-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-22, 15-9 in the NORCECA Continental Championship semifinals Saturday in El Salvador.
The United States hopes of advancing to the NORCECA championship and qualifying for the World Championships will be decided by the end of the night.
Canada and the defending tournament champions United States will play each other in the NORCECA Continental Championships semifinals with the winner getting a berth to the upcoming FIVB Men’s U-21 World Championship.
