All-American outside attacker Thomas Jaeschke made sure the sold-out home crowd didn’t leave Gentile Arena disappointed.
Jaeschke had a match-high 24 kills as Loyola defeated Penn State 25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-11 in front of 4,435 fans at the NCAA Tournament semifinals on Thursday in Chicago.
Four teams remain and by the end of the night only two will be left still fighting for a national championship.
The NCAA Tournament semifinals get underway tonight at Loyola’s Gentile Arena as Stanford and BYU play each other in a rematch of the MPSF Tournament championship match. In addition, two traditional conference powerhouses Penn State and Loyola will meet in the other semifinal match.

Loyola isn’t feeling the pressure of being the No. 1 seed and playing host to the NCAA Tournament.
Coach Shane Davis said in a news conference Wednesday that the Ramblers feel more feel more relaxed entering their upcoming NCAA Tournament semifinal match than it did last year when they reached the Final Four.
