  • Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    About one month away from the start of the conference tournaments and several teams postseason fates could be on the line this weekend.

    Cal Baptist will try to hold down eighth place and the final spot in the MPSF Tournament as it travels to No. 1 BYU. In addition, Hawai’i and USC will meet in a two-match series that is a virtual must-win for both schools.

  • Penn State’s Contreras highlights EIVA Hall of Fame class

    The outside attacker who led Penn State to become the first non-West Coast team to win a national championship in NCAA men’s volleyball history and former two head coaches will be inducted into the EIVA Hall of Fame.

    The EIVA announced Thursday that Ivan Contreras, Glen Nelson and Wayne Stalick will be the second class inducted into the conference’s hall of fame.

  • Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    The Midwest is in the spotlight tonight for college men’s volleyball.

    No. 4 Ohio State and Lewis highlight tonight’s matches in a battle between two undefeated MIVA teams. In addition, out on the West Coast two top-10 nationally ranked teams meet as No. 5 Pepperdine takes on No. 6 Stanford.

  • Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

    It’s the mid-point of the regular season but there is a Final Four feel to some of the matches this weekend.

    No. 1 UC Irvine and No. 3 BYU will play each other in the marquee match of the week to help determine who will be atop the MPSF standings. In addition, No. 4 Ohio State begins a critical weekend of conference play if it wants to win its seventh consecutive MPSF regular season championship.

  • BYU leads nation in home attendance halfway into season

    BYU once again is on pace to end the year leading the nation in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball home attendance.

    The Cougars halfway through the season lead the nation averaging 2,794 people in attendance per home match — one of two teams averaging more than 2,000 people in home attendance.

    There are only two MPSF matches tonight, but they are big ones.

    No. 2 BYU will try to stay in sole possession of first place as it plays host to No. 5 Stanford in tonight’s marquee match. In addition, No. 4 Pepperdine will put its undefeated home record on the line as it takes on No. 7 UCLA

    No. 2 Long Beach State looks to maintain its status as the surprise team of the season as it plays No. 8 Cal State Northridge. In addition, Ball State and Lewis renew their conference rivalry in a match that could have significant MIVA implications.
