Months after being upset in the postseason, Mount Olive has not only moved on but is now eyeing a feat never achieved by a Conference Carolinas team.
Mount Olive coach David Heller said Tuesday in an interview with Off the Block that his team has been eager and more focused during the preseason knowing in 2014 it has a chance to become to the first Conference Carolinas team to reach the NCAA Tournament.
The men’s volleyball NCAA Tournament will have a new format starting in the upcoming season.
The NCAA announced Wednesday a series of postseason reforms including adding a second play-in match and expanding the NCAA Tournament field to six teams.
It took almost 40 years, but expansion as arrived to the men’s volleyball Division I-II NCAA Tournament.
The NCAA sent a memo to coaches and conference commissioners Wednesday morning stating it will add another play-in match and increase the NCAA Tournament to six teams beginning in 2014.

The bids are officially all in from schools vying to host the men’s volleyball Division I-II NCAA Tournament in upcoming years.
NCAA officials informed Off the Block via email Tuesday that 21 bids were submitted to the league office requesting the right to host a college men’s volleyball national championship during the next five years.
