USC’s Yoder named Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Freshman of the Week

Outside attacker Lucas Yoder after helping lead No. 11 USC to upset a top-10 nationally ranked team during the weekend is now picking up the first national award of his college career.

Off the Block announced Monday that Yoder was named the season’s inaugural recipient of the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Freshman of the Week.

Crabb comes up big, No. 4 Long Beach beats Harvard in UCSB Invite finals

The campaign for Long Beach State outside attacker Taylor Crabb to repeat as the National Player of the Year is off to a quick start.

Crabb had a match-high 19 kills as No. 4 Long Beach State defeated Harvard 25-18, 20-25, 25-19, 25-13 to win the UC Santa Barbara Invitational championship on Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

The MIVA and EIVA has a chance to make an even bigger statement with several marquee non-conference matches tonight.

No. 7 Loyola will attempt to get its third victory against a nationally ranked team in as many night as it plays host to No. 11 USC. In addition, Harvard will play No. 4 Long Beach State with the UC Santa Barbara Invitational championship on the line.

Loyola shocks another top ranked team, sweeps No. 3 BYU

Outside attacker Thomas Jaeschke showed why he was a Preseason All-American and in the process lead No. 7 Loyola to knock off another top-five nationally ranked team.

Jaeschke had a match-high 18 kills as Loyola swept No. 3 BYU 28-26, 25-23, 25-22 on Friday in Chicago for the Ramblers’ second win against a top nationally ranked team in as many nights.
