The start of the John Speraw head coaching era at UCLA began on the court and with a winning record.
UCLA in its preseason debut won three of its five matches at the USC Fall Tournament during the weekend, including a 25-17, 23-25, 25-21 against its in cross-town rivals USC on Friday.

Outside attacker Nick Goodell had a match-high 15 kills and four aces as Penn State defeated Ohio State 25-14, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22 on Thursday in University Park Pa., to open the Penn State Fall Invitational.
Goodell, a 2011 All-EIVA selection, was one of three Nittany Lions with at least nine kills in the preseason match. All-EIVA outside attacker Aaron Russell had nine kills before being pulled after the second game, while outside attacker Kyle Mars came off the bench to add nine kills.

Five UCLA men’s volleyball matches will be nationally televised during the upcoming season.
The Bruins released its 2013 schedule Thursday and announced that five of the team’s conference matches will be broadcasted live on the Pac-12 Network.

UC Irvine announced Monday its schedule for the upcoming season and revealed that it would play a non-conference match against Penn State in its regular season finale on April 13.

A former All-American who helped lead UC Santa Barbara to the brink of its first national championship in program history will return to the school as a coach.

The gold medals for the NORCECA Men’s Junior Championship are staying in the United States.
The United States defeated Canada 26-24, 25-17, 23-25, 21-25 in the championship match Saturday in Colorado Spring, Colo., to capture the nation’s second consecutive gold medal at the under-21 international tournament.

BYU freshman outside attacker Ben Patch saved his best performance for the U.S. Men’s Junior National Team’s biggest preliminary round match at an international tournament.
Patch had a match-high 12 kills as the United States swept Mexico 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 to clinch the Pool A championship and a semifinals berth at the NORCECA Men’s Junior Championship on Wednesday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
