Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

The end of the regular season is here and the finale has the potential for plenty of drama.

No. 2 UC Irvine and Penn State will met in a possible preview to the Final Four, while Cal State Northridge and Hawai’i continue their push to clinch the final berth in the MPSF Tournament. In addition, Pfeiffer will attempt to repeat as conference champions as it plays Limestone in the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship match.

Top 5 men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

It’s the final Wednesday of the regular season, and it’s so big it warrants a top-five match breakdown.

No. 3 UCLA will try to clinch a home match in the MPSF Tournament and remain in contention for the only at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as it plays No. 5 Pepperdine. In addition, the Conference Tournament resumes tonight with both semifinal matches.

Conference Carolinas announces 2013 All-Conference awards

The regular season champions Mount Olive earned the most all-conference selections, but Pfeiffer won the biggest Conference Carolinas individual award.

The league announced Friday afternoon that Pfeiffer outside attacker Caleb Brophy earned the 2013 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year.

After losing in the conference championship match last year, Mount Olive is the preseason favorite to win the Conference Carolinas championship in the upcoming season.

Mount Olive received four of the nine first-place votes to narrowly edge out second-place Pfeiffer and finish atop the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches Poll that was released Monday.

Pfeiffer names U.S. Sitting Team assistant Walker as new head coach

A USA Volleyball coach with the national sitting team will now become the head coach of the defending Conference Carolinas champions.

The Pfeiffer athletics department announced earlier this week that Greg Walker will be the new head coach of the Falcons men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming season.
