Conference coaches and officials are considering changing the MPSF schedule for future seasons following the elimination of the Pacific men’s volleyball team.

Stanford coach John Kosty at a recent MPSF league meeting proposed that the conference create a new three-year rotating schedule format for matches involving Stanford, BYU, UC San Diego and Cal Baptist.

Video: Reaction, analysis to Pacific eliminating its men’s volleyball team

After more than 20 seasons and multiple postseason appearances, the Pacific men’s volleyball program will come to an end.

Pacific, according to an email obtained by Off the Block, informed the players and coaching staff Wednesday that the school president approved a cost-cutting proposal to eliminate the team following the 2014 season.

School officials: Pacific to cut men’s volleyball team after 2014 season

Pacific men’s volleyball is the latest causality in the series of university-wide budget cuts.

Pacific athletics director Ted Leland informed the Tigers’ coaching staff and players Wednesday afternoon that the school president has approved an athletics department proposal to eliminate the team following the 2014 season, according to an email obtain by Off the Block.

Pacific players create online video to protest school possibly cutting team

Pacific men’s volleyball players have taken the fight to save their team from being cut by the university to whole new production level.

Members of the embattled team released an online video Monday that showcased the players’ desire and campus-wide support for Pacific to spare the program following a recommendation from the athletics department to eliminate the sport for financial reasons.

Pacific AD suggests keeping men’s volleyball if it’s privately funded

Pacific has a chance to save its men’s volleyball team if the program can independently raise enough funds.

Athletics director Ted Leland said Friday in an interview with Off the Block that he has amended his initial recommendation to cut the program and allow the team to remain at Pacific if it can financially sustain itself following the 2014 season.

Embattled Pacific program among lowest funded teams in MPSF

In a cost cutting move, Pacific is considering to eliminate its men’s volleyball program, but the money that the university could save is minimal compared to what other schools spend on the sport.

Pacific at $68,023 had the third lowest annual operating budget of the 13 schools in the MPSF conference, according to the most recent U.S. Department of Education report released in November 2012.

Stanford coach calls on teams to show support for Pacific men’s volleyball

Stanford coach John Kosty is doing everything in his power to help ensure its conference rival Pacific does not drop its men’s volleyball program.

Days after the Pacific athletics department recommended that the university eliminate the men’s volleyball team, Kosty during the weekend sent a nationwide letter to college men’s volleyball teams encouraging coaches and players to object to the decision.

Hawai’i to play 4 MPSF road matches in 5-day stretch for upcoming season

Hawai’i will have a conference road trip unlike any other team in the nation for the 2014 season.

Coach Charlie Wade said in a recent interview with Off the Block that Hawai’i will play two-match road series against both Stanford and Pacific within a five-day span during the upcoming season.
