Proposed changes to the college men’s volleyball postseason were on the table during the recent NCAA annual summer meetings.
NCAA men’s volleyball committee chairman Ron Shayka said in an interview with Off the Block that the committee made several recommendations at the meeting to improve future NCAA Tournaments and the selection process.
In the aftermath of a controversial NCAA Tournament selection process, coaches and college men’s volleyball fans for the upcoming seasons will now have the opportunity to view the same data used by the selection committee.
Committee chairman Ron Shayka said in an interview earlier this week with Off the Block that the committee at its annual meeting recommended to make publicly available all the statistical analysis of teams the committee receives from the NCAA.
Stanford is not only getting to host the NCAA Tournament next season, but possibly both play-in matches.
The NCAA men’s volleyball committee at its annual meetings approved a recommendation to keep the play-in matches at the site of the NCAA Tournament, committee chairman Ron Shayka said in an interview with Off the Block on Thursday.
The dream season is now a reality.
The No. 1 seed Loyola had a near NCAA Tournament record .452 attack percentage as it defeated the No. 3 seed Stanford 25-17, 19-25, 25-19, 25-15 on Saturday in Chicago to win its first national title in program history.
There has been one constant for Stanford during its postseason run: its diehard and loudest fan in the stands.
