Off the Block announces 2018 All-Independent Team

A nationwide voting committee selected eight college men’s volleyball players to the Off the Block All-Independent Team that was unveiled Wednesday.

The All-Independent Team recognizes the best players during the regular season from NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball teams that are competing without a conference affiliation. Alderson Broaddus outside Ramirez named Independent Teams Player of Week

A season-best performance from outside attacker Jose Ramirez resulted in a victory for Alderson Broaddus and a college men’s volleyball award for the sophomore.

Alderson Broaddus schedules big non-conference match vs. Penn State in 2018

Two teams that won conference championships last season will play each other in the upcoming season — one just has a slightly greater historical pedigree.

Alderson Broaddus stuns Coker to win IVA championship

The fourth time turned out to the be the charm Alderson Broaddus needed to pull off one of the biggest wins in its program history.

Alderson Broaddus, despite three previous losses to Coker earlier this season, rallied from a one-game deficit to beat the Cobras 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 in the IVA Championship Tournament finals on Saturday in Hartsville, South Carolina. Alderson Broaddus middle Miller named 2017 IVA Player of Year

A senior who was one of the nation’s top defensive players throughout the season is ending his college career with a player of the year award.
