Late-game blocks completes No. 9 UC Santa Barbara upset of No. 1 Stanford

In a match-up between two of the nation’s top sophomore setters, Jonah Seif came up big late to help UC Santa Barbara pull off the upset.

Seif had back-to-back blocks on the final two plays of the decisive fifth game as No. 9 UC Santa Barbara defeated No. 1 Stanford 25-13, 25-21, 12-25, 25-23, 15-12 on Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Top 5 college men’s volleyball matches to follow tonight

It’s a short turnaround tonight in college men’s volleyball for several teams following lengthy conference matches less than 24 hours ago.

No. 1 Stanford and No. 7 UC Irvine will both attempt to rebound from losing a five-game conference match on Friday to a top-10 nationally ranked team. In addition, out in the Midwest No. 2 Loyola looks to make its case for No. 1 in the national rankings as it plays host to Mount Olive.

Sander rallies No. 8 BYU past No. 7 UC Irvine in rematch of NCAA finals

One day after UC Irvine unveiled its latest national championship banner, All-American outside attacker Taylor Sander made sure BYU would win the NCAA finals rematch.

Sander had a season-high 25 kills as No. 8 BYU rallied from a one-game deficit to defeat No. 7 UC Irvine 19-25, 34-32, 21-25, 25-18, 15-12 on Friday in Irvine, Calif., for its third consecutive conference victory.

NCAA eases recruiting communication restrictions for volleyball coaches

College men’s volleyball coaches are on the verge of having fewer NCAA recruiting restrictions and a longer time-frame to communicate with potential high school recruits.

The NCAA Division I Legislative Council voted Wednesday to approve legislation that would move up the start date for recruiting communication to the fall semester of a high school recruit’s junior year.
