Off the Block releases new Division II coaches poll

A week after tying Lewis atop Division II coaches poll, Concordia-Irvine is the consensus No. 1 in the poll released on Wednesday morning.

Concordia-Irvine received eight of the twelve first-place votes, while Lewis received the other four.

Last week was the Eagles’ second time tied atop the poll (Week 11 in 2018), but this is the first time they are all alone on top.

Concordia-Irvine went 3-1 last week, including a pair of wins over conference foe Stanford. Graduate outside attacker Jonathan Carlson led the Eagles with 54 kills in the four matches, to go along with 33 digs and ten blocks.

Limestone jumps back in the poll at No. 9 this week after defeating both North Greenville and Erskine on the road.

The focus on Division II men’s volleyball will be in the metropolitan St. Louis are as No 3 McKendree and No. 6 Lindenwood co-host No. 4 Lincoln Memorial, No. 9 Limestone, and Quincy in the Lindenwood Invitational this weekend.

Both NCAA Division I and NCAA Division II men’s volleyball programs compete for the same national championship. The AVCA National Coaches Poll ranks the top 15 Division I-II men’s volleyball teams and is released each Monday during the regular season.

A national voting committee comprised of coaches from the more than 25 Division II teams determines the weekly rankings for the Division II National Coaches Poll.

The Division II National Coaches Poll will be released on the Off the Block website every Wednesday during the regular season.
