The MIVA regular season champions are moving up the rankings.

Lewis jumped two spots to No. 2 in the latest NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball RPI rankings that the NCAA released on Monday.

The Flyers secured their second consecutive conference regular season championship last week and enter the MIVA Tournament on a nine-match winning streak. While Hawai’i still holds the top spot in the rankings, Lewis moved ahead of BYU for the No. 2 ranking.

A team’s RPI ranking is calculated using a mathematical formula that includes its winning percentage, strength of schedule and opponents’ strength of schedule.

The RPI also is one of the criteria categories the selection committee uses to determine the NCAA Tournament field.

Penn State and Loyola round-out the top five of the RPI rankings. In addition, Daemen after closing out its regular season with an undefeated record moved into the top 10 of the rankings.

An updated RPI rankings will be released each Monday throughout the regular season and conference tournaments. The final RPI rankings before the seven-team NCAA Tournament will be unveiled on Selection Sunday.
