What to know: Grand Canyon took Pepperdine the distance on Saturday evening, but dropped that match, just as they did on Friday afternoon. Grand Canyon outside attacker Christian Janke bounced back from his injury on Friday to tally 17 kills on a .400 attack percentage on Saturday. Fellow outside attacker Camden Gianni has struggled in the first two matches with only 17 kills on a .104 attack percentage. In fact, Gianni got pulled in the second game of Saturday’s match due to his struggles. Opposite Hugo Fischer has led the Lopes attack with 27 kills in two matches. For the Waves, outside attacker Spencer Wickens has paced the offense with 28 kills on a .500 attack percentage. Saturday’s big performer was middle attacker Austin Wilmot who had 17 kills on a .640 attack percentage to go with a match-high five blocks. The Waves have outhit the Lopes, .373 to .264 over the first two matches. A Pepperdine win would pull them within a half-match of UCLA in the standings, and make their rubber match on Wednesday all that more pivotal.
