Two matches in the books and Hawai’i is already back in sole possession of the No. 1 ranking.

Hawai’i after sweeping a season-opening series against UC Irvine edged out BYU by one point for the top spot in the latest Off the Block National Media Poll that was released Tuesday.

Both the Cougars and Rainbow Warriors finished last week tied for the No. 1 ranking. The two teams received all first-place votes in the new media poll with Hawai’i garnering one more first-place vote.

The National Media Poll is the only rankings in NCAA Division I-II men’s volleyball solely determined by media members. The 10 teams receiving the most votes are ranked in the National Media Poll, while other schools earning votes but finishing outside of the top 10 are considered teams receiving votes.

A new national media poll is released every Tuesday during the regular season on Off the Block’s website.
