One of the top amateur beach volleyball players and a junior college transfer will join Lincoln Memorial for the upcoming season.

Coach John Cash recently announced that libero Jacob Miller and middle attacker Lucas Chazo have both committed to the Railsplitters.

Miller earned the 2020 AVP America Young Gun Award and was the inaugural recipient of the Eric Zaun Memorial Scholarship, which is presented to a beach volleyball player who embodies spirit, drive and passion. The Tennessee native won the bronze medal at the 2020 USA Volleyball National Beach Tour Junior Championship and the silver medal at the 2019 USA Volleyball Beach High Performance U19 Championship.

Chazo spent last season training and attending John Tyler Community College in Virginia where he was named to the Dean’s List. The 6-foot-4 middle attacker also was a member of his high school team and spent almost 10 years playing with the Richmond Volleyball Club.

Lincoln Memorial returns a majority of its starters after ending the 2020 season at No. 7 in the Off the Block/Frisco Mo Division II National Coaches Poll. The Railsplitters in the shortened season because of the coronavirus pandemic set a single-season program record with a .778 winning percentage.
