The Antelopes will be staying home and not making a cross-country trip to play two non-conference matches this week.

No. 11 Grand Canyon announced on its website Wednesday that both of its upcoming matches against NJIT on Friday and No. 12 Princeton on Saturday have been canceled.

This decision comes as numerous sporting events across the nation are being canceled or postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday that there are 938 confirmed cases of the coronavirus throughout the United States and 29 deaths because of the virus. That number has continued to increase in recent days.

Grand Canyon following these canceled non-conference matches will return to MPSF play with a road match against No. 8/9 Pepperdine on March 27. The Antelopes are in second place in the MPSF and have six remaining conference matches.

Grand Canyon has won its last two MPSF matches — both against top-10 nationally ranked teams.
